A lot of water for one town
Most Lakes Region towns have one big lake. Meredith has Winnipesaukee on Meredith Bay, Lake Waukewan along the west edge of the village, Wicwas Lake near Meredith Center, part of Lake Winnisquam on the Laconia line, and smaller ones like Pemigewasset Lake in between.
So there are a lot of Meredith houses with a lake side, and a lot of foundations that show. Natural stone veneer turns that exposed concrete into a stone base that looks right from the water and from the road.
Village lots near Mill Falls and Route 3
Meredith Village sits at the head of Meredith Bay, where the outlet from Lake Waukewan drops about 30 feet to Winnipesaukee. That drop ran mills from the 1790s on, and the mill site is now Mill Falls Marketplace on Route 3.
Village houses sit closer to the street and to each other than lake houses do. On a village lot, the places worth facing in stone are the ones people see walking by: the street side foundation, the front steps and the porch columns. Stone, mortar and a mixer need a spot near the wall, so a photo of the driveway helps Kevin plan.
Meredith Neck
Meredith Neck covers the north half of town, a peninsula with Bear Island, the second biggest island on Winnipesaukee, just offshore. Neck lots are about the water and the long view down the lake. Big lake side foundations, decks on posts and walls holding up a lawn above the shore are what you see from a boat going by.
Kevin wraps deck posts in fieldstone and faces lake side foundations so the house and the shoreline read as one piece.
Meredith Center and the Wicwas side
Meredith Center is quieter, with far less commercial building than the village. Around Wicwas Lake and on the back roads the houses lean toward year round homes on wooded land. There, a fieldstone foundation face or a stone fireplace inside tends to fit better than polished cut stone.
Down on the Winnisquam line
Meredith's southeast corner runs along Lake Winnisquam toward Laconia. That shore is away from the village traffic, and the homes there look out over Winnisquam instead of the big lake. The stone questions are the same as anywhere on the water: which wall faces the lake, where the roof drops its snow, and what stone already sits on the lot.

Every one of these starts the same way: a text with a photo and the street name.
