Kevin's home water
Ossipee Lake sits in the middle of this group. The Pine, Bearcamp, Beech and Lovell rivers feed it. A channel runs from the lake to Broad Bay, then on through Leavitt Bay and Berry Bay to the start of the Ossipee River, which flows east into Maine.
Every town on this page is on that water or a short drive from it, and all of them are close to Jones Legacy's base in Ossipee.
Seven towns, quick notes
Each town has its own page with more detail. In short:
- Ossipee: home base, with Center Ossipee, Ossipee Corner, West Ossipee, Water Village and the lake shore
- Effingham: Lord's Hill, Effingham Falls and the Province Lake shore
- Freedom: the old village on Old Portland Road and the houses on Broad Bay
- Tamworth: Chocorua, South Tamworth, Whittier and Wonalancet, with Chocorua Lake and White Lake
- Madison: Silver Lake, Eidelweiss, East Madison and the Madison Boulder
- Wakefield: Sanbornville, Union and a town full of lakes, from Lovell Lake to Great East Lake
- Brookfield: a small farm town on Route 109 below the Moose Mountains
What lake country asks of stone
Around these lakes, a lot of houses sit on a slope that runs down to the water. That leaves a foundation that is short from the road and tall from the lake, with a deck on posts across the water side. Those are the spots where natural stone veneer earns its place.
The other thing lake country brings is water. Damp ground, snowmelt and wind driven rain all find the bottom of a wall. So the stone stays up off the soil, flashing goes in wherever a deck or window breaks the wall, and there is a path for water to get out from behind the veneer.
Away from the shore, the jobs change. Older houses in Freedom village, Wakefield Corner and Lord's Hill need new work that looks like it belongs. Hill lots in Tamworth and Brookfield need stone on the tall downhill face.
Other work around the lake
Kevin also builds New Hampshire fieldstone walls, flagstone walkways down to the shore, stone steps and patios. Jones Legacy does interior and exterior painting in all seven towns. For a camp that has not changed in years, that can mean stone posts under the deck, new steps to the beach and fresh exterior paint as one project.
